Morning Carelink Fall 2013
We have had such a wonderful start to morning Carelink this year! I love the combination of new and returning faces. With some amazing mentor moms to help guide discussion and lend an ear. Our first meeting involved a quick word from Pastor Brent welcoming us as we start a new year as well as some fun games to get to know each other. We took pictures for the directory, which should be available at our first October meeting.
September 24th we met for the second time. Brunch is always a highlight for me (Laura, I need that breakfast pizza recipe) and I know it is for many of you as well. Here is a peek into our meeting:
1. Candy shared a devotional that struck a chord with many about our happy "being bumped." Satan loves to infiltrate our mommy minds and make us think we aren't good enough. He is good at "bumping" our happy. Remember that we are not fighting our husbands or children, and that we need to continually look to God for our strength and our happy! A wonderful devo from Lysa Tyrkerst with Proverbs 31.
2. Journaling with Joan-
Joan Warkentin came and shared about how she journals through Gods word on her own and with a group of other women. Since we as a Carelink group are choosing to journal with the 5 by 5 by 5 plan, this was a great start to our journaling journey. God's word is powerful, and while Bible Studies are good, it is always a great idea to go to the source. Find a comfortable translation and jump in! Joan suggested the S (scripture) O (observation) A (application) P (prayer) model, but there are many other ways to journal through the Word. We spent the last of our time journaling in the new journals handed out that morning. If you need one please let Tanya know!
3. Looking ahead: in October and November we will look at creating ornaments for a Jesse Tree for our families to use this Advent Season. The overwhelming response was that we could each make a batch of ornaments and swap at an upcoming meeting. Details will come in the next month! Don't worry, some directions will be provided!
