A Year in Review
We had a "special" morning for our last meeting. Susie J. made our ENTIRE brunch and we asked the nursery volunteers to come through the line and enjoy the biscuits and gravy, homemade quiches and coffee cakes, fruit salad...and I know I'm forgetting something! A BIG, special thanks to Susie for making door prizes, leading a small group, being a mentor and most of all caring so much about all the moms in our group. Blessings back to you, Susie!
Tiffany shared a devotional relating to the words that come out of our mouths and learning to control our emotions and explosions. I.e. finding appropriate ways to communicate :-) She shared about the "always-to-be-remembered" Christmas when her husband gave her a robe which was nothing like what she was hoping to receive. She shared her terrible response & the fact that it was embarrassingly recorded on the video camera! She tied it into a devotional by Lysa TerKeurst and other women writing on the book, Unglued.
Tiffany finished by drawing the conclusion that often times we think we know what we want in life. We plan our schedules; we set our goals and so forth. Yet, sometimes, God presents us with a "gift" that isn't anything like the plans we had made. Sometimes they are really hard "gifts" to open: tragedy, loss, hardship. And all we want to do is whine & complain. Yell and give it back. But in the end; after making it through and being able to look back with perspective, we see that it was the perfect gift after all - or at least a gift that created in us growth of faith or of character or of something else that God knew we needed. And like the robe, we are able to wear it with thanksgiving.
Most of our morning was spent having ladies from the Carelink leadership team share about their memories of the speakers this year. Some had great lessons of encouragement; others tidbits they found helpful (or still hope to try). We played a quick game of guessing all the speaker topics and finished with door prizes and a little small group time.
It was a good year!
