Sunday, our family and one of Micah's friends were in the car and we were deciding where to go for lunch after church. Jack asked Micah where his favorite place to eat was. You know what he said? "Home." Ah, isn't that a sweet moment for a mom! Too bad my favorite place to eat is anywhere BUT home!
I have some random kitchen tips to share with you today. Courtesy of Woman's Day November 2012 issue.
#13 After rinsing dirt from fresh herbs, wrap them in a damp paper towel and refridgerate in a plastic bag.
#20 The color of an orange doesn't indicate age. Look for ones that are firm and heavy for their size.
#24 Lay slices of bacon on a wire rack over a cookie sheet and bake at 400 degrees for 18-20 minutes.
#27 Don't wrap baking potatoes in foil. It traps the moisture and steams potatoes rather than bakes them.
#31 Don't rinse pasta after draining. If pasta starts to stick add a little oil and toss gently.
#45 If you need to measure syrup or honey, swish vegetable oil around in the measuring cup first to prevent sticking.
#68 Use rubber gloves to grip a lid that won't come off.
#71 To get more juice from a lemon, halve it and heat in the microwave for 30-40 seconds. Let it cool, then squeeze.
#75 Get rid of fruit flies by scattering some fresh basil or peppermint leaves inside your fruit bowl. The herbs are natural repellents.
