Re-Think Their Drink
Parents Magazine, September 2012
Nutrition experts recommend water, low-fat milk, or a small amount of 100 percent juice for your child's lunch. Make basic beverages more exciting:
MILK
-stir in one teaspoon vanilla extract.
-sprinkle on a little cinnamon or nutmeg.
-puree with fresh or frozen strawberries, raspberries, or mango before packing.
WATER
-float some cucumber slices in a bottle of clear water.
-add a sprig of mint.
-squirt in a little juice from an orange, red grapefruit, lemon or lime.
JUICE
-mix 50-50 with sparkling water for soda-like fizz.
-add ice cubes with raspberries, blueberries or grape halves inside.
-freeze juice overnight so the texture is slushy by lunchtime.
