Grown-Up Grilled Cheese

Here's another article from Martha Stewart Living that spices up an old favorite: The Grilled Cheese Sandwich. I have to admit, I've never heard of some of these ingredients! So maybe we won't be making an exact replica of one of these sandwiches, but it could be a jumping off point for new creation of our own. As shown in the photo (top left down, then top center down...)


1-gruyere, apple, sage on rye
2- gruyere, red onion, prosciutto, pepper on rye
3-fontina, harissa (sauce), pear on rye

4-cheddar, dijon mustard, bacon, tomatoes, avacado, pepper on sourdough
5-cheddar, jalapeno, cilantro on white
6-gruyere, oil-packed sardines, peppadew peppers, arugula on rye

7-cheddar, cherry preserves, basil on white
8-fontina, oil-packed tuna, relish on white
9-cheddar, bacon, pickles on sourdough
